Training Requirements

As per the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations 49.CFR.172.704, all workers associated in any way with the shipping process of hazardous materials and transportation, must be trained in

• General Awareness, Safety & Security
• Function-Specific HazMat training

General Awareness, Safety, and Security Hazmat Training

This awareness training is applicable and required within 90 days of starting the duty and every 3 years thereafter (49.CFR.172.704(c)) for any worker associated with hazardous materials.

As a stand-alone course, this is useful for administrators or others who interface, create shipping paperwork, or provide logistics support for HazMat shipping. This also is the base requirement for those also requiring the function-specific (Shippers and Carriers).

This training meets the requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT) for general awareness, safety, and security training for hazardous materials shipping.

This DOT online course includes the course, interactive quiz, certificate of completion, and supplemental materials. The course will be available for two weeks from the date payment is received. You will receive access to the course after payment is received (within 24hrs).

Function Specific Hazmat Training

Function-specific Hazmat Training for all classes is an add-on section to the general awareness and security training (not a stand-alone training, must be taken with the awareness training to meet regulations). We have function-specific modules for:

• • Hazardous Material Shipper training: designed to provide shippers and preparers, those who OFFER, shipments of hazardous materials an understanding of the regulations applicable to their tasks, such as determining the class, hazard, proper shipping papers and content, etc.
  • Hazardous Material Carrier/Driver Training: designed to provide drivers and carriers of hazardous materials an understanding of the regulations applicable to their tasks, such as any driver with a Hazmat endorsement on their license, or carrier (anyone who puts hazmat in their vehicle).
